Apple delivered media invites today for its long-rumored spring event at its 1 Infinite Loop campus in Cupertino, California. Tim Cook & Co. will discuss new products/services at 1 p.m. Eastern Time on March 21. The invite (above) features a portion of the Apple logo and text simply stating “Let us loop you in.”
Among the expected announcements is a new 4-inch iPhone model as well as a new 9.7″ iPad. As always, there could be a surprise or two along the way but no new Mac models or refreshes are expected to be delivered.
The event will be live streamed on Apple’s website and via Apple TV for those looking to witness the event in real time. Of course, you will find coverage of all the announcements right here at the Rocket Yard!

What will Apple unveil? No repairable, upgradable laptop with an easily replaced battery? Just more toys for a jade few.
I find it amazing that, with each year that passes, Apple offers customers less variety. The aging MacPro means no high end machine for power users. No real component desktop leaves business users out. Apple’s laptops are a pain for business travelers. Fewer and few ports mean more and more stuff has to be carried along. Apple has a cellular data option for its tablets but not for its laptops. Why?
Apple’s target customer seems to the the Eloi of H. G. Wells’s The Time Machine. As Wikipedia notes: “The Time Traveller theorizes that intelligence is the result of and response to danger; with no real challenges facing the Eloi, they have lost the spirit, intelligence, and physical fitness of humanity at its peak.”
