Internationally known photographer Florian Wagner knows what it takes to capture images on-the-go. Currently, Wagner is touring the rolling green landscapes of Ireland via horseback on a terrain that poses both logistical and physical challenges for a profession that requires the highest quality gear.

But capturing images on this type of journey requires more than just high quality gear. While traveling via horseback it’s crucial that a photographer’s gear is also portable and easy to manage while shooting in the field. That’s why Wagner relies on OWC Digital to not only provide high-performance storage for their crucial data, but also security to keep their images safe from the rigors of nature while on the journey through Ireland.

Wagner’s team has been taking advantage of professional-grade storage solutions from OWC’s entire lineup during its travels.

4J1A9972USE“We use the Envoy Pro mini for press, Mercury Elite Pro Dual for preparation of all media, ThunderBay 4 for final preparation and storage, and the Mercury On-The-Go Pro with 1TB for storage plus backup of all media during the trip,” Wagner said, adding that his team emphasizes portability when away from home.

“Because we are traveling so much, the Envoy Pro mini, Mercury Elite Pro Dual, and the On-The-Go Pro are the most practical while maintaining high-performance. When we are back home, the ThunderBay 4 is a necessary tool to backup and store all media and data and finally, prepare them for the coffee table book and documentary.”

Fortunately, there has been more than OWC Digital gear aiding Wagner’s team on its long journey.

“We already recognized that there is a hospitality which I’ve never experienced before… Everywhere around us, we find friendly and helpful people who do their best to help us in a difficult situation,” Wagner said.

His team plans to discover Ireland on horseback, following Celtic paths to ancient Places of Power as ambassadors for Natural Horsemanship. They set out at Mizen Head and aim to reach their destination at Malin Head after about 800 miles (1,300 kilometers) and five weeks of travel.
