Apple has released its first software update for its latest Mac operating system and it contains a very important fix for a subset of Mac users.
macOS Tahoe 26.0.1 is available now and Apple says it fixes a bug that prevented M3 Ultra Mac Studio users from upgrading to the new OS. Here are the release notes directly from Apple:
This update provides important bug fixes, security updates, and resolves an issue that prevented some users from upgrading to macOS Tahoe on Mac Studio (M3 Ultra, 2025).
If you’re an M3 Ultra Mac Studio user that wants to upgrade, you should be able to do so now without worry.
That is of course if you even want to upgrade in the first place. Since the release of macOS Tahoe, there have been countless Mac users sounding off on social media about how they wish they had not updated to Tahoe due to the operating system’s new Liquid Glass design.
A quick browse of the r/macOS community on Reddit shows post after post of Mac users unhappy with the new design. There are complaints about everything from software bugs, UI inconsistencies, and, most notably, the removal of Launchpad.
In our own first impressions of macOS Tahoe, we noted thiat there are some welcome new features and found that we didn’t run into any show-stopping bugs. However, we have to agree with the overall opinion of what feels like many Mac users out there: this early incarnation of Apple’s new design direction leaves a lot to be desired.
Have you updated to macOS Tahoe? Let us know in the comments below. If you have, what do you think of the new design?

I updated to 26.0.1 last night on my m4 pro MBP, and now my OWC dock will not work. I get power from it but that’s all. Not sure what the heck is going on here. Any suggestions would be awesome!
Apple had a year to iron out the bugs in Tahoe, since they start their cycle for next years OS in the fall and they just can’t seem to get it right in house before they release it to the public in the form of betas and even with two months of beta testing they still can’t get it right.
