Newer Technology, Inc. announced today the NewerTech AdaptaDrive converter bracket for installing any capacity size 2.5″ SATA hard drive or Solid State Drive in a 3.5″ SATA drive bay equipped desktop Mac, PC or external enclosure.

Can you do one for installing a 2.5″ SATA drive inside a Lian Li RH58 sled that originally held an IDE 3.5 inch drive? I have an audio recorder that would benefit from that.
That’s a pretty specialized application Flawn…so doubtful we would do such…we try to create solutions for the masses…
Will this work in a 2007 aluminum iMac?
Hey Sam….yes this would work..any application where a 3.5″ drive installs…now…that said….would have to see if the factory drives installs using the side mount screw holes on the drive…if so,, then totally fine use for AdaptaDrive.
From the pictures of the product, it appears that the AdaptaDrive has both bottom and side mounting screw holes. So, assuming the holes are in standard positions, it should install in place of any 3.5 drive.
http://youtu.be/irtsm7mLG5k Excellent. From what I can see at iFixIt.com the hard drives do utilize the side mounting holes. http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/iMac-Intel-20-Inch-EMC-2133-and-2210-Hard-Drive-Replacement/1008/4#s5373
This may give my 2007 iMac a few more speedy years. Seriously awesome. The guys at OWC do it again!
Well Sam….I figured it would…just covering my bases so to speak as I personally haven’t tripped around inside a 2007 iMac…and while things should be standard (meaning the mounting holes) I just wanted to note that aspect…
