While the Apple Store is currently showing that the 27-inch iMac is available to ship in January, our first pre-ordered model arrived today. Here’s a few unboxing photos for your pleasure while we begin our compatibility testing.

I take it that there will be no turnkey upgrade for the new iMacs?
We do not have one currently, but that’s not to say we won’t. As with all new offerings by OWC, you’ll hear about them first in the OWC Blog.
You guys planning on doing a turnkey program for SSD install? Really can’t stand the fact the only true SSD you can get costs over a grand…………..
We’re currently still testing and qualifying upgrades for this model. As soon as we know what we’re going to be able to offer, you can rest assured you’ll hear about it here at the OWC Blog.
I ordered a 27″ iMac when they first became available but after watching your teardown of the 21″ imac I cancelled my order. I am hoping OWC will be able to add both a 512GB SSD and a 4TB hard disk and perhaps fuse them into a custom Fusion drive.
Really lookinhr forward to hearing if the internal hard drive is upgradeable
Looking forward to the results. Of course you’ll have to recommend which memory to add, and a good BD drive to go along with my new iMac….
What about glare and reflection. Picture 14 seems like a mirror!
Same as on prior models – it is a gloss not a matte screen.
Played with one in the Apple store. It is reflective, but a lot less than the previous models.
What does the outside shipping box look like. Would really love to see a picture of that. I will be ordering one. I will ship it to you once you have all the upgrades available. I will then be moving in May and will need to ship it. Thanks. Can’t wait for your tear down etc. You have the one I am ordering. thanks again for all you do for the Mac community.
Where I started taking photos is exactly as we received it. This one was pre-ordered from our local Apple Store and picked up there.
