(With apologies to Yoda and our readers for that headline…)
With less than a week left until the world presumably finds out more about the Apple Watch – including the price tag for all models and when it will be possible to actually purchase one – the competition in the smartwatch space is already starting to heat up. Today, smartwatch pioneer Pebble announced that its Kickstarter campaign for the new Pebble Time has been so successful that the company is following up with a new model — the Pebble Time Steel. This watch will be slightly larger in size to allow for a battery pack intended to give it a whopping ten days of battery life between charges.
That’s not the only news on the smartwatch front today. Although this may just be a rumor, French technology website 01.net reported today (translation) that Google is expected to release an iOS version of its Android Wear app. This would make Android Wear smartwatches immediately compatible with most iOS devices, creating a bit more competition in a market that seems poised to explode in the very near future.
