Got Your 6 aims to make 2016 its best year yet, which is saying something considering the 2015 that the organization had.
Last year, Got Your 6 launched a new social awareness campaign and a new PSA featuring Chris Pratt in an effort to highlight veterans’ multi-dimensional attributes, challenging stereotypes and misconceptions in order to normalize perceptions of those who have served in the military.
The organization also hosted Storytellers in New York City and Los Angeles. Like in previous years, the third annual Storytellers event showcased the exemplary talents and ideas of some of our country’s best and brightest military veterans. Speakers delivered six-minute talks about their achievements, innovations and passions.
Below are just some of the powerful Storytellers videos, and you can watch the rest of the videos as they are added at gotyour6.org/programs/storytellers-2015/ or at the Got Your 6 YouTube page. (Note: Videos might contain some language that may be offensive to some, but it’s in the speakers’ words and from their real-world experience.)
In 2015, Got Your 6 unveiled the findings of the first-ever Veterans Civic Health Index with the National Conference on Citizenship, Points of Light, American Express, and special guest U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert A. McDonald. The study shows that, on average, veterans volunteer, vote, engage in government, help neighbors, give back and participate in community organizations at higher rates than their civilian neighbors.
But all of this is just part of Got Your 6’s 2015 story. To see even more from the organization’s year and what lies ahead, visit: gotyour6.org.
