iPhone users, today is upgrade day.

Earlier this afternoon Apple released its latest version of iOS for download. iOS 16 brings several new features to the iPhone, including a redesigned home screen.

If you’re the owner of the following iPhone models, you’ll be able to upgrade to iOS 16:

  • iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation)
  • iPhone 8 (and 8 Plus)
  • iPhone X, XR, XS, XS Max
  • iPhone 11 (and Pro, and Pro Max)
  • iPhone 12 (and mini, Pro, and Pro Max)
  • iPhone 13 (and mini, Pro, and Pro Max)

Here’s how to check for an update:

Open Settings > General > Software Update

Your iPhone will check for an update and you’ll see the option to download iOS 16 and install it to your device. (If your phone has less than 50% battery life, you’ll have to charge it up before you can install.)

What’s new in iOS 16?

The most talked about feature in the new OS is the new customizable home screen. iOS 16 brings the ability to choose the color and font of the lock screen clock, and gives you the ability to place widgets on the home screen for the first time.

There are also improvements to Messages, Family Sharing, Maps, and more. Be sure to read our full breakdown of what’s new in iOS 16 by clicking here.

  • Not available for iPad and the IOS update they do have has eliminated that cool rotating watch gear.
Apple engineers just don’t have the creativity they once had.
