Apple kicked off its big Let Loose iPad event today by announcing all-new iPad Air models.
The biggest change for iPad Air is that for the first time there is a new 13-inch model. Apple says the larger model provides 30% more screen real estate than the 11-inch model.
In addition to this new screen size, the iPad Air has been upgraded from the M1 Apple chip to the M2. M2 brings a faster 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU to the device and Apple says the new Air models are 50% faster than the M1 models and 3x faster than the models powered by the A14 Bionic chip.
Another very welcome change to these new models is that Apple has heard our collective cry and has finally moved the front-facing camera to the landscape edge of the iPad Air.
More welcome news is that the new models are compatible with the new Apple Pencil Pro, which you can read more about here.
The iPad Air will be available in space Gary, starlight, and new purple and blue finishes.
Pricing and availability
The new iPad Air starts at $599 for the 11-inch model and $799 for the 13-inch model. It’s available for pre-order today and will be available starting next Wednesday, May 15.
