Back in April, humor website Funny or Die released a satirical Steve Jobs biopic in a mad dash to beat two other more serious films that were already in production to the punch. In fact, they were in such a hurry that there wasn’t much time for story, accuracy or, you know, good jokes.
Now that we’ve had time to hate reflect on the warm-up act, we get our first extended look at the first of the two “legitimate” movies about the former Apple CEO with the trailer for Jobs starring Ashton Kutcher. Jobs actually premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival and was originally slated for a wide release in April but was pushed back to its current Aug. 16 release date for unknown reasons. A third Steve Jobs movie – based on the official adaptation of Jobs’ authorized biography by Walter Isaacson – is currently in development by writer Aaron Sorkin.
Judge for yourself, but Kutcher definitely looks the part … until he opens his mouth, that is. But we’ll reserve full judgment until the movie is released.
