Through our Women in Tech series on the OWC Blog, we’ve discussed the lack of diversity in technology industry with women comprising 51 percent of the workforce, yet only 26 percent of tech professionals.

Making a big investment
Google announced Thursday that it will make a major investment in a new program called Made with Code along with a $50 million in funding “to support programs that can help get more females into computer science…”
By the numbers
In March, TechCrunch highlighted a study that showed that “both men and women are twice as likely to hire a man for a math-based job.” Check out the article for more information and a link to the full study.
Inventor of Kevlar dies at 90
In a sadder bit of news, Stephanie Kwolek – a pioneering female chemist at DuPont – passed away Friday. Kwolek invented the durable fibers widely used in Kevlar body armor in the 1960s, and spent time throughout her life encouraging women to enter scientific fields.
