Star Trek 3 won’t hit theaters until 2016, so while we here at OWC refuse to let ourselves get wrapped up in the dangerous search for spoilers this early in the game, we can at least take a few minutes to fondly remember the Star Trek of TV past.
Today is the 48th anniversary of the first airing of the original NBC series on Sept. 8, 1966. And it’s hard to believe from the worldwide popularity of the franchise today, but the series actually aired to mixed reviews back then.
Happy anniversary, Star Trek! We’re glad you were able to endure any early hiccups. And please forgive us for saving the true celebration for your 50th anniversary and (as-of-now) spoiler-free threequel in 2016.
Wrong insignia. Should be Sciences, not Command. (I’m such a trekker.)
