Last Month we showed you Forbes writer Anthony Karcz’s series of articles titled “This Old iMac”. In a recent installment, Karcz sent his 2011 iMac to OWC via its turnkey upgrade program and shared his seamless experience. Karcz was able to upgrade his storage and iMac’s memory for some serious performance upgrades.
But how much of an upgrade did Karcz get? Enough performance to render his “This Old iMac” series of articles obsolete. As the author puts it, “After today, ‘This Old iMac’ will be no more. Why? Because after I got my iMac back from OWC, the only way I can call my computer ‘Old’ is by hewing to the strictest of definitions. With new solid state drives and new RAM, ‘She may not look like much. But she’s got it where it counts, kid.’ ”
In Part 2 of Karcz’s experience with OWC’s Turnkey Program, the author shares benchmarks to show just how much of an improvement his iMac has seen with the upgrades. “In a couple of words? It screams,” Karcz says. Below is a benchmark that the author shared with his new OWC Mercury SSDs.
