Perhaps overshadowed by Apple’s introduction of the new 12” Retina MacBook, the 11” and 13” MacBook Air models were also given some attention at yesterday’s Spring Forward event – but to much less fanfare.
We were able to get our hands on the new 2015 MacBook Air models and performed a teardown on both and ran benchmarks on the 13″ model which featured a 4 lane PCIe SSD. (See our unboxing of the 2015 13″ MacBook Pro with Retina display here.)
UPDATE: OWC Now Offers SSD Upgrades for 2013-Current MacBook Air & MacBook Pro with Retina display models

And remember, if you need an external drive for Time Machine or to expand your MacBook Air’s storage, OWC has a great selection of portable and desktop drives. And be sure to check out our Thunderbolt Central page for high performance Thunderbolt solutions.
Still waiting patiently for a MacBookAir6,1 aftermarket SSD :/
What’s the status on those, anyway? You guys have quite a few fans who would love to be updated on this.
My prayers have been answered. Thanks OWC. :)
So are these drives upgradable with your 2014 drives then? I want the new 13″ but not without an upgradable SSD.
And are your drives speeds relatively equivalent?
I am still waiting the OWC SSD upgrade of the Macbook Air6,2. It seems obvious that they missed a digit when they went to the Air7.*’s.
Well shoot. I’ve already ordered my new 11″ MBA. Do you think the SSD difference between the new 11″ and 13″ would ever be noticeable outside of benchmark tests?
Will upgradeable ssd cards be available like previous generations? Praying there will be options!!!
How does this compare with what shipped in the 2014 Mac mini?
Now tear down the MacBook Pro 13″ with Force Touch please. ;^)
We got it as fast as we could :)

Nicely done, Apple! This leaves my RAID-0 OWC
Mercury EXTREME Pro 6G Mac Mini Server looking old. 1000MB/sec was fast just over a year back…
