What benchmarks for randon read/write IOPS?
Hola me interesa su Disco Portátil pero mis MacBook solo tienen Thunderbolth 2 Se pude usar así ?
Has anybody tried this drive on a mid 2015 15 inch MacBook Pro with Apple’s thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter cable?
I ask this as the original envoy is usb3.0, and not price/performance competitive with the samsung T3/T5 external SSD.
Hi, Jerold.
This drive will connect and operate only with Thunderbolt 3 ports. The power standards are different for Thunderbolt/Thunderbolt 2 and Thunderbolt 3. Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapters, including the Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter, are also not effective for use with this drive. The power supplied by the Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 2 host port through the adapter would not be sufficient for this Thunderbolt 3 bus-powered drive.
Can you install MacOS to the drive and boot? Does it support TRIM and APFS? Some SSDs have not supported these.
Hi, Martine.
Yes, the Envoy Pro EX Thunderbolt 3 can be used as a portable boot drive. APFS is supported and for more information on TRIM, please read this article: https://blog.macsales.com/21641-with-an-owc-ssd-theres-no-need-for-trim
Many thanks – now all we need is a launch promo!
