25 Lucky Winners to Receive 1.0TB Pocket-Sized Storage Solution

The 25 lucky winners of the ‘25th Year Kickoff Celebration’ Sweepstakes will each receive an award-winning OWC Mercury On-The-Go Pro 1.0TB Storage Solution with FireWire 800/400 and USB 3.0/2.0 interfaces valued at $154.99. First unveiled in 2001, the Mercury On-The-Go Pro immediately made headlines and has remained one of the best-selling Mac and PC compatible portable drives on the market. The Mercury On-The-Go Pro was chosen for the sweepstakes because its time-proven high-performance and reliability epitomize OWC’s commitment to offering industry-leading service and best-in-class products to customers.

Designed for the active “On-The-Go” computer user who needs the largest and fastest portable storage solution available on the market, the On-The-Go Pro is compact at 3.5″x 5.5″x 1″ in size – small enough to fit into a shirt pocket, yet big enough to offer up to 1.0TB of capacity. Stylishly engineered in a sleek, acrylic enclosure, the On-The-Go Pro is bus-powered, so it doesn’t require an AC adapter, which makes it ideal for presentations, multimedia, law enforcement, surveyors, and other “mobile office” uses. The Mercury On-The-Go Pro recently evolved to feature a USB 3.0 ‘SuperSpeed’ port, which offers data transfer rates up to 500MB/s as well as USB 2.0 backward compatibility for use with legacy machines. Additional connection options are possible with two FireWire 800/400 ports.

“The ‘25th Year Kickoff Celebration’ Sweepstakes is just another way to show our appreciation to the Apple and technology community for supporting us with their trust and loyalty. Whether they’ve been with OWC for 25 years or 25 minutes, our customers are our most important asset and are placed at the top of our organizational hierarchy,” said Grant Dahlke, Marketing Manager, Other World Computing. “By offering the award-winning Mercury On-The-Go Pro in our sweepstakes giveaway, we are sure the lucky winners will recognize the unmatched commitment OWC makes to offering the highest performing and reliable products available.”

Join OWC in Making a Difference

In addition to celebrating its 25th year of serving the Apple and technology community with a product giveaway, OWC is broadening its philanthropic efforts by offering a no obligation ability to join them in making a difference in the world. For every person that signs up for the Sweepstakes, OWC will donate $1 to charity: water, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. To ‘kickoff’ its fundraising mission, OWC will donate $1 for each of its nearly 5,000 Twitter followers. And for every new Twitter follower of OWC from November 1 to December 31, OWC will donate another $1. Those who just wish to donate to this cause, a donation option for $20 is provided — which represents the cost of bringing clean drinking water permanently to one person — and will be matched by OWC to help bring clean drinking water to two people. Any contribution under or over that $20 level will also be matched by OWC during the fundraising period of November 1 to December 31.

OWC will match up to $62,500 with a goal of raising $125,000 total to support charity: water for the drilling of new wells in areas of most need. On average, every $20 raised brings clean, safe drinking water to one person. For more information, or to make a direct contribution, visit

OWC was founded with the mission to provide real solutions for the needs of our customers. After learning more about charity: water’s work, we knew that this was not just a great cause, but a true, long-term solution to solve one of the most basic and often taken for granted needs…the availability of safe drinking water,” said Larry O’Connor, Founder and CEO, Other World Computing. “Life-changing, clean water is right beneath the feet of so many that need it most. Yet, it remains inaccessible. Just by signing up for the sweepstakes and following OWC on Twitter, we’ll automatically donate $2 to charity: water to provide resources for accessing that water. I encourage the tech community to join us in supporting the solution charity: water makes possible.”
