OWC announced today that the OWC USB-C Dock is available for pre-order and expected to ship in approximately three weeks. The new OWC USB-C Dock provides a complete connectivity solution for the 2015 Apple MacBook and other computers that utilize USB-C ports. For all media and review requests please contact Bill Herring, Public Relations Manager.
Ten Ports of Connectivity
Available in Space Gray, Gold, and Silver, the OWC USB-C Dock provides ten ports and enables the ability to charge devices, connect a display, add external storage, import photos from an SD card, utilize wired Gigabit Ethernet connections, connect audio accessories, and even power the new Apple MacBook, all through a single USB Type-C cable.
The OWC USB-C Dock includes ten ports for easy connectivity:
- Five fully-powered USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports
- Two high-power USB Type-A ports for fast mobile device charging
- Two USB Type-A ports
- One USB Type-C port
- Gigabit Ethernet – add high-speed wired networking support
- HDMI – connect an external display, with support for up to 4K video
- SD Card reader – easily transfer photos and video from an SD card
- Audio in and out – combo audio port for headphones or microphones
- USB-C port – connects to Apple MacBook or other USB-C-equipped host machine
Power for your MacBook. And more.
Included with every OWC USB-C Dock is an 80 watt power adapter. This is in contrast to other announced dock solutions relying on the power adapter that ships with the Apple MacBook, resulting in insufficient and unreliable power for many bus-powered USB peripherals. The included 80 watt adapter shipping with the OWC USB-C Dock is capable of powering not only the new MacBook but also all of the USB peripherals users will directly attach. As an added benefit, users can keep the original Apple MacBook 29 watt power supply in their bag for when they are on the go.
“…puts all other docks to shame.”
The OWC USB-C Dock has been developed by the same design team that developed the OWC Thunderbolt 2 Dock, which has been critically acclaimed by customers and product reviewers. Selected as a Finalist in the 2015 Stevie Awards, a premier business award program, the OWC Thunderbolt 2 Dock has a customer rating of 4.9/5.0. Derek Kessler, Managing Editor of Mobile Nations, stated “OWC’s Thunderbolt 2 Dock puts all other docks to shame” and MacWorld noted “Compared to the other docks in this roundup, OWC offers a whole lot of dock,” earning a top-rated 4.5/5.0.
“The innovation found in the OWC USB-C Dock is an impressive combination of technology and design, and continues an OWC tradition of empowering our customers to get the most from their tech,” said Larry O’Connor, Founder and CEO, OWC. “With the OWC USB-C Dock, you can now reconnect virtually all of your peripherals to the new Apple MacBook, and do so in style with your choice of three beautiful colors.”
Availability
The OWC USB-C Dock is currently available for pre-order at B&H, MacSales.com, Adorama, and other authorized resellers. Deliveries of the dock will begin in January 2016.

I placed a pre-order back in October for $129.00. I emailed customer service a copy of the PDF invoice. Hoping to get my UDB-C dock asap :D

Hello, I was wondering if this USB-C dock will work with my XPS 13 (late 2015)? Thank you
Hello Jude,
The OWC USB-C dock is designed to work with all computers with a factory USB-C connection. As the XPS 13 (late 2015) has one, it will be compatible!

I have the original version of this hub and the one downfall was the missing SD card reader. The front USB is a great addition as well on the latest model. If this ships with a Thunderbolt cable that would be a positive, my original did not ship with the cable, however, the cable was included a few months after I received mine. These look great and perform even better, keep up the good work on product design and improvements.
Hi, Don. Just to clarify, this new model utilizes the USB Type-C connection rather than Thunderbolt. Glad to hear you are enjoying your dock :)
I should also note that the USB-C Dock does, in fact, come with a 18-inch USB Type-C cable.
Good news, particularly since Apple forces users to accept the one-port artistic follies of Sir Ives the Anorexic. This is a marvelous corrective to that lack, particularly the inclusion of a power supply.
It is cost-effective too. Apple laptop users can use that absurdly heavy white power brick that ships with too-thin MacBook Airs on the go and OWC’s dock at home or the office. There’s even an HDMI port… that’s nice. I’ve got just the display to use with it.
Given all that it does, the price is quite reasonable too. I wish you every success.
I would suggest offering a padded case as an accessory for those who’ll use it on the go. Perhaps one with pockets for cables. Something that pretty should not get scratched.
Great. A Thunderbolt 3 with USB 3.1 Gen 2 would be also great.
