Apple today announced the HomePod mini 2, a refresh of its smaller smart speaker that adds Siri AI and slightly different colors.
HomePod mini 2 features the new S10 chip, allowing it to deliver Siri AI capabilities. Similar to the new HomeView hub, you can ask Siri AI questions, control your smart home devices, make calls, listen to music and more.
And like HomeView, HomePod mini 2 can recognize up to six individual users, allowing you to tap into your personal messages, music playlists, calendars, email, reminders, and more.
In addition to its new smarts, HomePod mini 2 also introduces Sound Glow. This feature allows the top of your HomePod mini 2 to glow and pulse in sync with the music currently playing. Plus, the album artwork from the song currently playing generates a color-matched glow.
Up to four HomePod mini 2 speakers (or two with two second-generation HomePods) can also be paired with the new Apple TV 4K to create an immersive home theater surround sound.
HomePod mini 2 will be available in pink, green, blue, white, and midnight for $149. Pre-orders are available today with availability beginning October 30.
