In 2012, Other World Computing kicked off its 25th year of providing service and solutions to the Apple community and tech industry with a mission: providing clean and safe water to those in need.
OWC teamed with charity: water for a fundraiser that brought in nearly $80,000 to help bring sustainable drinking water solutions to people in developing nations. The OWC 25th Year Kickoff Celebration was part of an even larger campaign called “100 Wells For The Holidays” that raised more than $1.5 million for the cause.
Now that the donations from OWC employees, customers and supporters have been put to work, charity: water has shared exactly where and how the funds have helped. Through OWC’s 25th Anniversary Kickoff Celebration campaign, 5,275 people in different communities in Ethiopia have gained access to clean, safe drinking water. These communities previously relied on bogs and swamps as the only source of water.
In an ongoing series on the Rocket Yard, we will share the Ethiopian communities that have benefited from charity: water’s mission.
