The greatest challenge in photography has nothing to do with the exposure triangle, how much glass you have, or whether your camera has global shutter or IBIS. Instead, the path to taking great photos hews very closely to the path to a happy life: being more present.
Which means that photography is not just a job or an art form—it’s a worthwhile practice that can help everyone slow down and more fully appreciate and enjoy the world around us. Imagine seeing a photo you took years ago and still being able to remember the breath you took in just before pressing the shutter. That’s what can make a camera worth its weight in gold.
And that’s exactly the type of feeling our friend Forrest Mankins is exploring with his new video series “Personal Work.” Premiering next week, “Personal Work” follows Mankins in his travels, encountering and photographing beautiful environments and—more importantly—incredible and inspiring people. In each episode, Mankins lets you in on the full creative process, from his philosophy on photographing people to the differences in his creative approach to each day of a shoot.
“Personal Work” will debut on the OWC YouTube channel on June 9, so be sure to subscribe to the channel. You’re not going to want to miss this.
