Incompatibility Issue Between myLTO and LTFS Tools

The new 2.4.3 version of the LTFS tools that we provide for the Mercury Pro LTO is not compatible with the current version of myLTO from Imagine Products. OWC is no longer offering it bundled with our Mercury Pro LTO or as a separate, standalone purchase. As always, we want to ensure you are set up for success with all OWC products. So here are some important facts:

  • If you are successfully using myLTO with your Mercury Pro LTO, do NOT update your version of the LTFS tools from the open source packages from IBM, HPE, Quantum, or others as this will cause myLTO to stop recognizing when your tape is properly mounted. This prevents you from moving forward with the myLTO app to actually copy data to the tape.
  • If you need support for myLTO moving forward, please contact Imagine Products support as OWC support no longer has a mechanism to provide support for myLTO beyond ensuring that your Mercury Pro LTO tape drive is functioning properly.
  • For new installations, the LTFS 2.4.3 version works properly with our ArGest Backup and ArGest IngestPRO, as well as with other third party tools such as Hedge Container and Archiware P5.
