The Verge Posts First Impressions of the New Photos App for Mac

After first announcing its new Photos app for Mac OS X Yosemite way back at WWDC in June of last year, the new app is finally beginning to make its debut.

A developer seed version of Photos is being distributed to developers today, and The Verge has shared its first impressions of the new app calling it “an improvement for most iPhoto users” but adding users of Aperture’s more advanced features may be disappointed.

Apple announced in late June of last year that it would no longer be developing its professional-grade photo editing app Aperture or consumer-grade app iPhoto, and it would instead replace them with Photos.

Be sure to head over to The Verge for a closer look at the new Photos app for Mac. And check back with the Rocket Yard for more updates on the app which is due for a spring release as part of a free update of OS X Yosemite.
