How to Be Extra Productive on this Leap Day

Screen Shot 2016-02-29 at 1.10.00 PMIf you took full advantage of National Public Sleeping Day yesterday, you might have fallen a bit behind on your to-do list.

Fortunately, you have an extra day in February to make up for it! Today is Leap Day, which occurs in most years that are divisible by four. And the fact that today is the rare February 29 got us at the Rocket Yard thinking, and we’ve come up with some ideas on how you can spend your “extra” 24 hours.

Emancipation Day falls on April 15 this year. This is significant because in Washington, D.C., Emancipation Day is a public holiday. This is even more significant because it pushes the deadline to file federal income tax returns to Monday, April 18.

So, combining the extra three days Emancipation Day affords you with Leap Day, you’ll have four more days than a typical year to file. And that leaves you with very few excuses not to file on time. (And be sure you hit the right digits when filing with the NewerTech Wireless Aluminum Keypad.)

Backup your data
World Backup Day isn’t for a few weeks (March 31), but never hurts to get a plan in order early.

If you need help getting your backup plan together, the Rocket Yard has put together several guides to help you protect the data on your computer and even your iDevices.

Learn something new about your Mac or iDevice
If you’re not a regular reader of the Rocket Yard, you might not be aware of our Friday Five series where we take a look at a Mac OS X or iOS app or tech topic to point out five things you may have overlooked. You can find our entire archive of Friday Five articles here, but here are five that we think you might find particularly useful this Leap Day.
